DHCPv6 really is a bloody nightmare. I have the most basic server/client code working, but this is more of a minefield than IPv4 DHCP. This needs something of a larger project and some serious work to get this spot on - a challenge we can manage, I am sure. To be fair, DHCP on IPv4 was never as simple as it sounds.
@revk Glad it's not just me who finds DHCPv6 confusing. I'm not even sure if I should have it enabled on the router or not (everything seems to work fine with just SLAAC).
@InfiniteDissent SLAAC is pretty simple, but we are finding devices that need DHCPv6 now, so working on it. Latest FireBrick alpha is making progress.
@revk Back in the day (97-99) I had to come up with a way of making our broadband routers OS and chips “plug and play” with Win95/Win98 hosts in a poorly informed retail environment where a “truck roll” was to be avoided at all costs.
I can imagine v6 is more complicated. #ATML #Virata #ADSL #HFC-modem
